Our School

Since Columbine High School opened in 1973, we have established strongStudent donating Blood
traditions and a culture of Rebel Pride. This pride is rooted in the fact that we are a close-knit family and community of learners. We are committed to high standards of learning for all students, valuing each and every member of our school community. We expect personal and collective responsibility and promote high levels of engagement and performance in learning, which results in future life success.

Science Classroom• AP Capstone - Columbine was the first AP Capstone Diploma School in Jefferson County, developing students' skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing & presenting 
• 816 AP Exams taken in 2021 with 68% scoring a 3+ or higher, exceeding the state and global percentage.  Numbers include 65 AP Scholars, 35 with Distinction & 6 National AP Scholars
• 2022 Boettcher Scholarship recipient
• 15-million dollar facility update including a new auxiliary gym
• 2015 & 2016  Daniels Fund Scholarship recipients
• 2017 National merit scholarship recipient
• 22 students scored 1400 or better on 2020 Colorado SAT
• Birthplace of Big Idea Project - Students identify a need in society they would like to do something about, work together with a business mentor to design their action plan and then make their Big Idea come to life (www.bigideaproject.org)
• DECA – 97 state qualifiers in the past five years
• Award winning Drama Program, including the fall play Clue and the musical Beauty & the BeastDebate team
• Speech/Debate – Numerous state qualifiers; named in the top 25% of speech and debate clubs in the country (National Speech and Debate Association)
• Currently 23 CHSAA sanctioned 5A sports with 15 state championships
• Several Coaches of the Year in 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2021
• Winner of Jefferson County Paul Davis Sportsmanship Award 7 of the last 8 years
• Winner of the Eliza Pickrell Routt Award for registering the most teen voters in Colorado
• Lockheed Martin tutoring partnership 

Princesses at Trick or Treat Street• Annual East High School student exchange
• Annual Trick-or-Treat Street event that provides a safe and fun Halloween for over 1,000 kids
• Annual Coffee Jam fundraiser that has raised $50,000 to support: earthquake rebuilding efforts in Haiti, to sponsor high school students in Kenya, to provide funds to purchase furniture at an orphanage in Zimbabwe, partnership with African Community Center in Denver, sister school sponsorship and community in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, provide funding and educational needs for a 40 children orphanage in in Tanzania, Africa
• First high school in the nation to host Blind Café event, annually
• Top-rated high school partnership with Vitalant (formerly Bonfils) Blood Drive; top donor in the state
• Since 2013, we’ve helped fund raise more than $25,000 dollars to charities such as:
* Columbine Memorial
* Iluvuguys foundation (aka “Emily’s Parade”)
* American Cancer Society (aka Relay for Life)
• Spirit squads (Cheers and Poms) offer annual community pee wee clinics
• Meals on Wheels volunteer support and nursing/retirement home visits
• Feeder school tutoring and mentoring relationships in community

• Several faculty members have been recipients of Jeffco's Talented Teachers Awards
• Jeffco's only tri-school dance, ChaKotaBine, has raised over $80,000 for the American Cancer Society, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Columbine Memorial, American Red Cross & Dysautonomia International
